Today we not only bury mum, we celebrate her life, reflect on what she meant to each of us, we give thanks, we seek to understand. With my brother Shane, I thank in particular our magnificent sisters, Maree and Karyn, who cared so deeply, who were mum’s bedrocks, always a great comfort for mum over so many decades.

Been a busy fortnight of mostly switching off and relaxing. New York is back to being my town. London beckons but the music, the variety and buzz of the Big Apple is hard to beat. Caught up with friends.

In July 2009 my wife Mary Easson popped into Concord Hospital in Sydney for what we thought would be a routine operation, keyhole surgery to remove small fragments of gallstones left behind from a previous operation. She drove herself there mid-morning with the intention of my picking her up late afternoon the same day.
Welcome family, friends. Right from the start Mandy had character. Born this day in 1988 she had an impact. By instinct she knew that if she bawled loud enough it was feedtime.
Maree was the first of the bad Easson kids. First to stay out late, drink to excess, wake up really, really late on weekends; first to argue unconvincingly that she had puffed, but never inhaled. First to leave home.
Men and women of Wonderland! Tonight we use our imagination, travelling deep through the Looking Glass into Weasy’s world: “Curiouser and curiouser!”
