Debilitated as a beached whale,
The child trembled like an old woman beyond the pale.
After the cyclone, the town is like a smashed termite top,
Hot as a flaming sunspot.
Disgusting as a bucket of over-sunned, putrid prawns
The aeroplane rose like a frisbee thrown to the sun bleeding at dawn.
Black as cold lava, days after the eruption was done
Their love-making searched for buried treasure, eager for discovery and fun.
He entered the room like a thief, with darting eyes checking for getaways.
My sails unfurl like a ship pushing out of the bay.
