(1993) Hope of Deliverance is More than Just Mindless Optimism

Political historyBy Jen CalderonSeptember 8, 1993

In an important sense no one knows the future or can abruptly predict where we will be in a decade. Ten years ago some of us were predicting that unemployment would continue to rise and, with technological changes, asked where would the new jobs come from?

The 1993 Federal Budget, its broken promises and taxes on untaken long-service leave, etc. led me to criticise the Keating government. The above is one of various stories contrasting my position with Mary’s, then the Member for Lowe in the Keating government. Gabrielle Chan, Eassons Labour Under Political Flack, The Weekend Australian, 4-5 September 1993, p. 1.

Political historyBy Jen CalderonSeptember 8, 1993

(1993) Labor Unity Statement of Principles

Political historyBy Jen CalderonSeptember 8, 1993

The article as published in the Canberra Times, August 18, 1993, p. 8.

Political historyBy Jen CalderonSeptember 8, 1993

The Treasurer knew that last night’s Budget would be judged against three criteria: jobs, jobs, jobs. So what’s the scorecard?
